Hours: 0900-1700 Monday - Thursday, 0900-1600 Friday

About the Role

As Marine Systems & Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of marine systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Reporting to the Marine Systems & Compliance Manager, you will contribute to technical projects, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and assist in managing resources to support the efficient functioning of marine systems. The role also includes monitoring compliance activities, supporting audit readiness, and ensuring adherence to maritime legislation, port regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe operation, maintenance and performance of all marine systems.
  • Work with technical teams and provide expert guidance on system operation and upgrades.
  • Plan and oversee system installation, refit and upgrade projects.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Manage budgets and supplier relationships.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in marine systems.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant maritime legislation, industry standards, port regulations, and internal company policies.
  • Support audits, inspections, and reporting activities by maintaining accurate compliance records and ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Marine Systems and proficiency in relevant IT packages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Power BI, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to Port systems.
  • Sound understanding of Port and River Byelaws, General Directions and other relevant statutory and operational information.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across technical teams, suppliers, and operational partners, supported by clear and accurate technical reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities, with a proactive, detail-focused approach to planning, prioritising workloads, and driving efficient systems performance and improvement.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Full driving licence, valid in the UK.
