We are seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support the Port Engineering Management team in planning, supervising, and delivering civil engineering and building projects at the Port of Tilbury. The role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high standards, satisfying client and stakeholder expectations.
Key responsibilities:
- Produce contract specifications and tender documents, including Pre-tender Health & Safety Plans.
- Prepare accurate, costed designs and project estimations.
- Maintain site presence and liaise with contractors to resolve issues promptly.
- Apply problem-solving skills to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Inspect works programmes to ensure standards are met and properly documented.
- Review valuations and variations to monitor budgets.
- Participate in progress meetings with stakeholders to meet deadlines.
- Draft legally sound, financially viable contract documents before projects start.
- Provide progress reports highlighting delays or actions needed.
- Ensure health and safety compliance, including CDM duties.
- Prepare Pre-Contract Information files and review safety plans and 'As Built' drawings.
- Oversee site activities for compliance with specifications, programs, and budgets.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Utilize AutoCAD (training provided) for technical drawings and layouts.
