An opportunity has arisen for a Sub Assembly Technician to join the Jaguar TCS Racing department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
About the roleAssemble and disassemble gearboxes, uprights, suspension hardware and other mechanical components for service and rebuild, whilst recording part and serial numbers and tracking service and assembly history.
What you will do- Assemble and disassemble gearbox, upright, suspension, steering, cooling, hydraulic and any other assemblies as required, using supplied technical drawings and build documents.
- Carry out first build of assemblies for R&D, rig and vehicle tests.
- Carry out servicing of assemblies in line with component service limits whilst ensuring lifing software is updated as necessary.
- Carry out last minute component reworks, using hand tools / fabrication tools as required.
- Use computer based software to ensure service and lifing records are recorded accurately and promptly.
- Liaising with the Workshop Manager, Chief Mechanics and the Parts Co-ordinator, ensure planned vehicle hardware is available for car assembly as per agreed schedules.
- Take ownership of the sub assembly workshop, ensuring the tooling and equipment within is serviced and maintained correctly and ready for use at all times.
- Follow defined HSE policy both trackside and at the factory to ensure safe operation day to day of the car at all times (safety checks, signage, PPE etc).
- Be confident using precision tools such as assembly insert tooling, torque wrenches, verniers, damper jigs etc.
- As one of the team technicians, be able to step up to build / repair cars and other team equipment as and when required.
- On occasion be able to attend test / race / rig / PR events both within the UK and abroad.
- Record / highlight faults to design and engineering as necessary.
- Assist in the packing of air freight / trucks as required.
- Follow and enforce defined HSE policy to ensure safe operation day to day of the car at all times (safety checks, signage, PPE etc).
- Assist in Identifying ways to improve the department and personnel performance.
- Maintain positive relationships with all other factory departments and company personnel.
- Maintain high standard of staff and department presentation.
- To be able to work under their own initiative when necessary.
- To have a ‘can do’ proactive attitude day in day out and proactively support others to complete their tasks.
- Complete tasks within agreed time frames.
- On occasion, work outside of ‘normal’ hours.
- At least 2 years’ experience assembling race car sub-assemblies.
- Must be familiar with gearbox and upright assemblies.
- Experience with race car hydraulic systems would be advantageous.
- Comfortable dealing with varying workloads.
- Confident with Microsoft Office suite (Excel / OneNote / Word).
- Full UK driving license.
