An opportunity has arisen for a C&P Team Leader to join the Contracts & Procurement department.
About the role
To lead all contracting and procurement activities to support the efficient delivery of the Catapult Programme. The role must manage and proactively ensure all goods, services and works are procured in a cost-effective, transparent and compliant manner, while aligning with group, legal and industry standards.
What you will do
- C&P Planning & Execution
- Manage and update Catapult specific CSR/PSR, register and/or PO log (as appropriate) to align with the programme schedules and budget requirements.
- Define and implement sourcing strategies for the Catapult programme and minimise supplier complexity and quantity where possible to enable the development of supplier relationships and supplier management.
- Contract Management
- Management and execution of all planned purchase orders for the Catapult programme.
- Responsible for end-to-end C&P processes – from identification of potential Suppliers, tendering, bid evaluation, negotiation, CAR preparation & approval process and contract/PO award.
- Responsible for Supplier identification, prequalification and shortlisting.
- Implement NDA’s and T’s and C’s with suppliers.
- Prepare supplier performance data and work with the supplier quality assurance team to ensure effective supplier development plans are in place and executed.
- Foster strategic supplier relationships to ensure continuous supply, innovation and cost optimisation.
- Carry out commercial negotiations covering terms and conditions, etc.
- Evaluate and recommend supplier awards based on total cost of ownership and strategic value.
- Collaborate on the creation of MSA/MPA’s for organisation wide use and maintain onboarded preferred suppliers list.
- Support and lead reporting of contracts & procurement status at programme reviews and gateways to senior management.
- Develop supplier performance measures in conjunction with supplier quality assurance and logistics.
- Identify and evaluate key risks at Contract formation and seek input from other functions as appropriate (e.g. engineering, legal, quality etc.).
- Preparation of Contract Award Recommendations and onboarding suppliers to ensure efficient award.
- Contract administration to support execution, including correspondence and contract notices and claims assessment.
- Responsible for resolving any invoices queries arising from Contracts & PO’s.
- Cost Initiatives
- Identify and actively promote cost reductions associated with the delivery of programmes to meet financial goals and report versus target monthly.
- Support for Business Development with estimates and costings for new programme proposals, where feasible.
- Team Management
- Provide engaging leadership and mentorship of the team, ensuring the team is motivated, driven and clearly directed.
- Performance appraisals and annual reviews to ensure staff are motivated and understand the goals and objectives that they have and how they contribute to the wider business.
- Support, lead, guide and train C&P team members regardless of Programme.
- Promote effective communication between C&P team and other departments ensuring alignment on programme goals and timelines.
- Ensure the teams C&P activities are in accordance with established Contracts and Procurement policies and procedures and continually focus on improving process and procedure, where possible.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Relationships
- Build and develop interdepartmental relationships within Fortescue to provide overall business improvement.
- Actively facilitate the coordination and communications between different departments, team members and stakeholders to ensure effective alignment.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors etc. on C&P matters.
- Management Reporting
- Management Reporting on Programme/Category performance to ensure that the C&P activities are happening on a proactive basis assisting with delivering programmes in tight time frames.
- Reporting on key KPI’s, and performance metrics to ensure the company is meeting its financial goals.
- Systems & Processes
- Drive the development, uptake and usage of key processes and systems, (such as ERP for all C&P and planning activity), ensure that the C&P teams are leveraging the tools and processes are being followed.
- Maintain and update C&P records and generate reports on C&P activity to meet organisation compliance and provide access to C&P information.
About you
- 12+ years’ experience in direct procurement in the Motorsports industry.
- Proven track record of C&P success, preferably across motorsports or a similar industry sector.
- Proven ability to learn and adopt new ways of working.
- Team player with the ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
- Practical problem-solving skills with the knowledge and experience to mentor team and suppliers.
- Solid knowledge of contract law associated with purchasing, C&P principles and negotiation techniques.
- Solid pre-contract experience and commercial / contract terms negotiation skills.
- Technical and/or commercial education to a minimum of degree level, membership of CIPS would be advantageous.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple packages, and drive the work to ensure successful outcomes.
- Travel to international locations may be required.
- Ability to bring a flexible, problem-solving mindset, challenging traditional thinking and be prepared to work outside of comfort zone.
- Strong data-driven and visual reporting skills, ensuring quantified status and risk is communicated.
- High level experience and knowledge in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent prioritising, organisation, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
