We are currently looking for two enthusiastic individuals to join us at our Engineering Services in the positions of Plater/Welder and Machinist Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity, with yearly salary increases, to work towards becoming a fully skilled engineer at one of the UK’s leading building material manufacturers. Closing date 30th June 2026 Apprenticeship summary Working week 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday Annual Salary £20,800pa Expected duration 48 months Start date 1st September 2026 Apprenticeship level Advanced Level Apprenticeship Location Forterra Engineering Services, Whittlesey Vacancy description The Role includes but is not limited to: Ensuring the efficient and safe Fabrication of Parts to specification by utilising the skills taught during your training Carrying out on-site maintenance during schedules maintenance periods and installation of fabricated equipment as required Carrying out pre-use inspections and logging/reporting faults as they are identified Requirements and prospects Desired skills Problem Solving Good Time Management Able to work individual or as part of a team Personal qualities Team player Self-motivated Trustworthy Honest Punctual and conscientious Good attention to detail Desired qualifications A minimum of 3 GCSEs, or equivalent, including English and Maths at grades A* - C (9 - 4). Prospects Fully trained Maintenance Engineer with potential to be supported to complete HNC/D Things to consider Salary will be reviewed throughout apprenticeship The first year of the apprenticeship includes residential training in Birmingham.
