We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Kirton team in the position of Shift Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing business operations, covering relevant shift patterns. Accountable for supporting, delegating, and resolving issues with team members ensuring production standards are adhered to.

Responsible for the operation in terms of Health & Safety, labour resource, delivery of production targets, quality, cost, asset control in line with budget requirements, maintenance/technical and human resources. Manages all aspects of the shift ensuring the delivery of the key performance indicators (KPIs). Strive to embed a continuous improvement culture to utilise a right-first time approach, reduce cost to production and minimise waste/energy.

Your duties would include but not limited to the following:

  • Plan, co-ordinate and manage a team to deliver all plant activities in a safe, efficient, and productive manner in line with KPIs.
  • Manage the Health & Safety aspects of the operation to meet and/or exceed legislative requirements, Company standards and the Golden Rules.
  • Develop and manage improvements in the capabilities and competencies of all employees to deliver improved operational performance in all areas.
  • Support the plant’s business plan by promoting a continuous improvement mindset and culture by actively engaging in activities and encouraging engagement.
  • Develop and implement new and improved operational practices i.e., cost reduction, energy saving and minimisation of waste.
  • Champion best product to achieve/exceed yield targets and drive improved quality products.
  • Manage operating costs in line with the business plan.
  • Manage HR related activities.
  • Deputise for the Production Manager when required.
  • Responsible for shaping the culture to ensure sustainability is at the heart of processes and procedures, focusing on energy reduction, waste control and environmental impacts.

  • Develop good working relationships and consolidate teams.
  • Effectively manage conflict to ensure the smooth operation of the site.
  • Be an integral part of the plant’s management team.
  • Demonstrate effective resource management skills to ensure efficient operation of the process.
  • Combine production and operational capabilities and implement continuous improvement activities to deliver/exceed performance expectations.
