We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Whittlesey Block team as a Shift Operative. This role involves overseeing and controlling operations within a production environment that manufactures concrete building blocks and pavers for both commercial and domestic markets. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all plant and equipment, with training provided on usage. Your focus will be on achieving high-quality standards and excellent customer service.

The job includes training in various production processes, such as aggregate processing, concrete batching, manufacturing and packaging of blocks and pavers, and operating mobile plant equipment.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Health & Safety: Maintain high safety standards for yourself and others. Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures. Report safety concerns promptly. Follow risk assessments and safe systems of work. Maintain PPE and report defects. Ensure equipment guarding is in place and report issues. Obtain permits for high-risk activities.
  • Quality Systems: Complete process control sheets and report quality issues. Follow quality requirements as per site standards. Contribute to a sustainable culture at the workplace.

About You: Organized, maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Willing to be trained in operating manufacturing machinery. Knowledge of health and safety legislation. Ability to manage varied workloads. Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team. Literacy and Numeracy at GCSE level. Experience working in a factory environment is advantageous.
