Job Description
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Newbury team in the position of Quality Manager.
The Quality Manager will drive quality improvement and awareness activity ensuring that a high standard of customer focus is maintained, playing a key role in the local management team.
The primary objective of the role is to ensure that the critical quality processes are maintained, mitigating any potential for a quality escape from the site. They shall collaborate with the site management to deliver a Zero Tolerance on quality fundamentals and work towards improved process capability. They will proactively audit these processes to ensure compliance and delivery of the customer requirements for the products produced.
Quality Control Leadership
- Use manufacturing experience to understand and improve the preventative process and maintenance requirements for Quality Stability.
- Attend SQCDP meetings and drive site quality improvements ensuring actions are completed in a timely manner to plan.
- Facilitate Weekly / Monthly / Quarterly SQCDP Quality deep dive meetings.
- Ensure that the process assurance checks are performed at the required frequency.
- Support site with the creation of SOP’s, reaction plans and IMS procedures that formalise control as per company requirements ensuring they are maintained and updated as required.
- Investigate using basic root cause analysis tools, any significant customer complaints ensuring that containment and countermeasures are put in place.
- Ensure that test and measuring equipment is fully functional, maintained and meets the calibration requirements as to provide reliable results.
- Facilitate the use of Quality Abnormality Reports (QAR forms), and ensure any actions are closed in a timely manner to plan.
- Manage relevant non-conformances using the Intelex database.
- Ensure that testing is carried out at the required frequencies and the test data reviewed to ensure compliance and manage the manufacturing process.
- Review manufacturing process data to help understand process improvements required.
- Ensure the processes for dealing with Quarantined products are adopted and actioned in a timely and efficient manner.
- Verify that the site is adhering to the Finished goods stock rotation & preservation procedure.
- Ensure the site maintains the Critical Quality Point workstations to the correct visual standard.
- Ensure the site is adhering to the management of change procedure.
Quality Assurance and Compliance Integration
- Maintain good communications with line management and the technical team, escalating issues to them that cannot be overcome at site level.
- Liaise with the site & the central lab team, to ensure that samples are sent to schedule and any results are reviewed.
- Management and maintenance of the quality control plan.
- Liaise as appropriate with the central quality auditor ensuring that internal and external audits are suitably supported, and any actions are followed through for resolution.
About You
- Proficient with good knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficient in Math and English
- Valid driving license
- Industrial quality management experience - +3 years
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic problem-solving knowledge – i.e., 5-why, root cause analysis, cause, and effect.
- Investigate causes of quality problems and proposing solutions.
- Be a team player and help facilitate continuous improvement and change.
- Work well under pressure.
- Confidence to challenge, and the persistence and the ability to influence others.
- Good time management skills and adhering to deadlines.
- Certificated training in quality control or quality management.
- Proven experience as a quality manager or engineer
- Auditing certification or experience
