Are you an organised, people-focused administrator looking for a role that offers consistency and flexibility? Do you enjoy variety, responsibility, and being at the heart of a busy HR function? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

At Forterra we are helping to create the places people live and work as a leading UK manufacturer of building products. We’re a value-driven business with a strong focus on our people, safety and doing things the right way. We’re now looking for a People Administrator to join our friendly and supportive team on a part-time basis. The role is worked across five shorter days per week, with hours designed to offer flexibility and support a healthy work‑life balance — ideal for anyone seeking reduced or structured daytime hours.

About the Role

As our People Administrator, you’ll be right at the heart of the People team, helping to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll enjoy variety in your day and take pride in knowing that your work supports colleagues across the business at every stage of their journey with us. From welcoming new starters and preparing paperwork, to keeping records up to date and being a friendly first point of contact for queries, this is a role where organisation, care and attention to detail really matter. If you like bringing order to processes and enjoy supporting people in a practical, reliable way, you’ll feel at home here.

You’ll be involved in things like:

  • Supporting employees through the full lifecycle, including joining and leaving the business
  • Preparing contracts, letters and other People‑related documentation
  • Keeping HR systems and employee records accurate, confidential and up to date
  • Helping with absence tracking, right‑to‑work checks and other compliance tasks
  • Supporting recruitment activity, including interview coordination
  • Acting as a first point of contact for everyday People queries
  • Providing general administrative support to the People team as needed

About You

You’re someone who naturally enjoys being organised and getting the details right. You’re comfortable handling sensitive information and take a professional, thoughtful approach to your work. You don’t need to be an HR expert — what matters most is your ability to stay organised, communicate clearly and support others reliably. You’ll likely recognise yourself in the following:

  • You have previous administrative experience (People or HR experience is a bonus, but not essential)
  • You’re detail-focused and enjoy keeping things accurate and well organised
  • You’re comfortable using systems and Microsoft Office
  • You have a friendly, approachable manner and communicate clearly with a wide range of people
  • You’re happy managing your own workload and taking responsibility for seeing tasks through

What We Offer You

The opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team in a flexible, part‑time role with hours across five shorter days. You’ll enjoy:

  • Competitive salary and generous holiday allowance
  • Pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution & life assurance
  • Wellbeing perks, including gym and Cycle to Work schemes, and Employee Assistance Programme
  • Opportunities for personal development and career progression
  • Annual bonuses, service awards, and participation in Sharesave and Holiday Exchange schemes
