Forterra – Desford, Heath Road, Bagworth, Coalville, Leicestershire, United Kingdom

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Desford team in the position of Maintenance Team Leader. The successful candidate will lead the site maintenance team on shift and play an active role in both electrical and mechanical maintenance activities. As a maintenance team leader, you are responsible for leading a team to rectify all malfunctions/breakdowns in a safe manner, to ensure the continuity and productivity of the plant. The role will require 100% commitment to a zero-tolerance safety and continuous improvement culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the shift maintenance team
  • Report on shift maintenance team activities
  • Ensure the team works to high standards of health & safety to meet or exceed legislative requirements & company standards
  • Deputise for the Shift Manager if they are not on site
  • Ensure the shift team are following reporting protocols and carrying out maintenance reporting through CMMS system
  • Ensure the shift team are filling out Major Breakdown Reports as required
  • Lead completion of TPM/PPM activities
  • Constantly monitor each stage of the process
  • Ensure correct spare parts are identified and fitted to operate safely
  • Rectify all stoppages/malfunctions, escalating for support when appropriate
  • Ensure that the team always follow the site PPE policy
  • Ensure housekeeping high standards of housekeeping on shift
  • Report all irregularities/health & safety issues to plant management team
  • Adherence to site LOTOTO procedure
  • Take a lead role where complex isolation is required
  • As the leader of a small team, you will work on your own initiative taking decisions as the need arises, this will include all possible repairs and continuous improvement activities
  • You will need to lead/motivate your team to ensure the best results are achieved for the plant
  • You will need a good working knowledge of PLCs and all associated controlled automated equipment and be competent in fault diagnosis on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Fault diagnosis and repairs
  • Most of the plant will contain HMI display screens. It will be part of your job function to understand the systems operation and relate it to electrical/mechanical faults
  • Standard modern control systems will be used throughout the plant including inverters, and most types of sensors (both analogue and digital), and safety devices. It will be part of your job function to understand the systems operation and relate it to Electrical/Mechanical faults
  • Some specialist training maybe required which could involve stopping away from home
  • Ensuring all safety standards are adhered to at all times
  • Compliance with all health safety and environmental regulations
  • Ensure that PPE issued is kept and maintained in good condition
  • Other duties as delegated by management

About You

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The job requires formal education or qualification, the role does require proof of a level of attainment in an Electrical maintenance field
