We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Hams Hall team in the position of Maintenance Support Technician.

Your duties would include but not limited to the following:

Duties listed are the key roles only – not exhaustive. They must be conducted safely, effectively, and in compliance with Forterra’s’ health & safety zero harm policy. These accountabilities do not replace or supersede, any other regulatory, site, or company rules and regulations of any kind.

  • Boiler management
    • To be responsible for the safekeeping of the boiler logbook.
    • To conduct daily boiler checks and to record the check and any resulting actions in the boiler logbook.
    • To timeously escalate any concerns and follow through to remediation.
    • Training will be provided by an external body – Role holder must pass the training in order to gain national industry standard accreditation as a ‘Certified Industrial Boiler Operator’ .
  • Boiler water management
    • To check, confirm, and record the condition and effective operation of the water treatment facilities daily including the taking and analysis of water samples.
    • To monitor chemical levels daily
    • To liaise with the water treatment contractors about any issues, and for the timeous stock reordering and replenishment of all chemicals and salt.
    • To timeously escalate any concerns and follow through to remediation.
  • Lubrication

In alignment with the maintenance planner:

  • To set up and execute an effective manual lubrication regime including coordination of ‘Perma Lube’ replenishment.
  • To set up and manage an effective powerpack inspection regime to include level checks and refilling, bund cleaning, leak reporting/repair, ….. etc.
  • To set up and execute an effective gearbox lubrication checking/replenishment process
  • Slurry pumps

In alignment with the maintenance planner:

  • To set up and execute an effective pump inspection regime including cleaning of gland packing and resolution of leaks in alignment with maintenance
  • To carry out lubrication
  • To support pump inspection, replacement, and rebuilding, plus status reporting
  • To support the procurement and expediting of pump spares
  • Tackle store
    • To manage and maintain the tackle store
    • To ensure tackle is in-date
    • To remove defective / quarantined pieces of lifting equipment
    • To ‘book-in’ and register new equipment
    • To liaise with our insurers during compliance visits
    • To specify and procure lifting equipment
  • Other tasks – as this list is not exhaustive, and this is a new position, additional tasks and/or changes in duty will be determined between the duty holder and the Engineering Manager as the role develops.
