Key Account Manager – Housebuilders | Opportunity x2
Location: UK-wide / national travel | Permanent, full-time | 40 hours, Monday–Friday | Field based
Shape the relationships behind Britain’s future homes.
Forterra is strengthening its approach to major customer partnerships and has appointed D R Newitt to deliver two strategically important Key Account Manager hires. This is an opportunity to influence how a leading UK manufacturer works with national housebuilders: not simply maintaining contracts, but understanding customers’ plans, creating long-term value and delivering profitable growth. The team is particularly interested in people who can bring fresh commercial thinking from outside traditional brick-and-block manufacturing.
The impact you will make
- Own and grow a portfolio of strategically important national housebuilder and construction customer accounts, delivering revenue, margin and sustainable growth (Brick, Block, Aggregate and Bison products)
- Develop and execute detailed strategic account plans that align Forterra’s capabilities with customers’ development pipelines and commercial priorities.
- Build senior-level relationships across procurement, commercial, technical, construction and regional leadership teams.
- Lead pricing negotiations and manage framework agreements, sole-supply arrangements, rebates and fixed-price contracts.
- Use market intelligence, competitor insight and account reviews to identify share-of-wallet, specification and new-business opportunities.
- Collaborate with Finance, Technical, Design, Innovation, Sustainability, Customer Experience and operations to solve customer challenges.
- Gather robust forecasts and project pipeline intelligence to support production planning and supply- chain decisions.
- Understand how changing regulations, including Part L and the Future Homes Standard, influence customer requirements and product specifications.
- Maintain accurate account plans, performance reporting and commercial forecasts; travel nationally, including occasional overnight stays.
What you will bring
- A track record of growing significant accounts, negotiating complex agreements and protecting profitable margins.
- Confidence influencing senior decision-makers and navigating organisations with central and regional buying structures.
- Strategic thinking backed by practical execution, customer insight and measurable commercial results.
- Self-direction, resilience, excellent organisation and a full UK driving licence.
- Direct housebuilder experience is valuable, but backgrounds in KBB, heating, roofing, windows and doors, flooring, electrical, insulation and other multi-site customer markets are welcomed.
