We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Measham team as a Maintenance Support Technician.
This dual-role position supports both talent development and operational efficiency on site. The successful candidate will act as a mentor for apprentices and existing employees, helping them enhance their practical skills with a focus on electrical competence. Additionally, they will provide hands-on support during mechanical and electrical breakdowns, contributing to the site\’s performance and reliability.
Your duties include but are not limited to:
Employee Development & Mentoring
- Act as the primary mentor for site-based apprentices and a skills coach for existing employees.
- Provide structured support to improve electrical fault-finding and maintenance skills across the team.
- Conduct regular one-to-one and group mentoring sessions to assess progress and set development goals.
- Collaborate with line managers, HR, and training providers to support qualification and skills matrix completion.
- Help embed a learning culture across the site and promote professional standards.
- Identify skill gaps early and provide targeted training and support plans.
- Maintain accurate records of development discussions, progress, and outcomes.
Breakdown Support & Maintenance
- Respond promptly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Fault-find and repair electrical systems, including motors, sensors, inverters, and PLC-connected equipment.
- Support TPM and PPM activities during periods of lower breakdown demand.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and reliability improvement projects.
- Record work completed via CMMS and participate in breakdown reviews (MBRs).
- Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards and adhere to LOTOTO procedures.
- Provide shift cover support in exceptional circumstances to maintain operational continuity.
- Cover duties of Storeman during their holiday periods.
About You:
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience in electrical or multi-skilled maintenance.
- Strong background in electrical maintenance and diagnostics in an industrial environment.
- Experience mentoring or coaching others (formal or informal).
- Familiar with PLCs, inverters, sensors, and modern control systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and ability to tailor development approaches to individuals.
- Comfortable with documentation, progress tracking, and delivering informal training.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while supporting team goals.
- The role requires proof of a level of attainment in Electrical maintenance, meeting at least NVQ3 or equivalent.
