We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Technical team as a Brick Process Engineer.

As a Central Brick Process Engineer, you will liaise with Engineering, Quality, and Operational plants supporting Aircrete, Brick, and Concrete production. Your focus will be on delivering process and innovation improvements related to quality, delivery, sustainability, and cost efficiency.

You will act as the process improvement lead for resolving issues related to process, materials, and technical aspects. Your role will include leading initiatives in cost saving, product development, sustainability, and process realization through new product development and innovation projects, under the guidance of the Technical Operations Manager.

Your duties include, but are not limited to:

Technical Operational Support and Guidance

  • Gaining practical experience in manufacturing technology within Aircrete, Brick, or Concrete production at Forterra sites.
  • Leading material development and optimization projects on site, including raw material changes, process optimization, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in problem-solving related to process and materials on site.
  • Supporting process engineering integration during new plant start-ups, including design, commissioning, and handover activities.

Process Development, Plant Optimization, and Trials

  • Conducting optimization trials to reduce material overage and ensure product quality and compliance.
  • Leading technical aspects of new product development projects, ensuring proper documentation and product integrity.
  • Driving process engineering improvements aligned with CAPEX projects for process, quality, innovation, and equipment upgrades.
  • Implementing new systems and technologies, such as AI and cameras, to reduce reliance on paper-based systems.

Process Improvement, Sustainability & Innovation

  • Maintaining close collaboration with Quality and Engineering teams to ensure compliance and assurance standards.
  • Applying continuous improvement tools like 5 Why, FMEA, and Cause and Effect Analysis.
  • Delivering process innovation projects through structured frameworks.

Mentorship and Development

  • Mentoring junior staff in material technology and technical training delivery.
  • Supporting staff development and promoting continuous improvement through WCM, FI, and TPM practices.

About You:

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Teams.
  • Background in Material Science, Science Management, or relevant experience as a Process Engineer.
