We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Sales team as an Area Sales Manager covering the Birmingham area. The purpose of this role is to optimise sales, profit, and cash by promoting the Company’s products and services within the designated sector. Your primary function will be to increase our sales share and exposure of brick, block, and walling products within the commercial and specification sector, linked to the strategic investment projects that broaden our portfolio of products used in this sector.

Responsibilities

  • To achieve budget volume/price for both brick and block for the portfolio and prospect accounts.
  • To maintain contact and promote the Company’s products and services to existing customers.
  • To establish contact and promote the Company’s products and services to potential customers.
  • To maintain close liaison with Contact Centre staff to manage the assigned customer portfolio effectively, ensuring the internal sales co‑ordinator is aware of all alterations on quotations raised in the area.
  • To keep abreast of developments in commercial, technical and policy matters and react accordingly.
  • To establish and maintain good customer relations, particularly by prompt and efficient response to queries and complaints.
  • To develop business via existing customer base and new customer base.
  • To plan journeys and customer calls to achieve optimum use of time and target a minimum of 4 calls per day.
  • Complete the Salesforce reporting after each customer visit.
  • To properly manage your active pipeline and ensure it is updated with new opportunities.
  • To effectively control expenditure on telephone calls, entertaining and incidentals.
  • To maintain and operate internal recording, reporting and administration systems.
  • To assist at exhibitions, conferences, presentations and other functions as required.
  • To regularly review personal progress and keep abreast of technical and sales techniques.
  • To monitor the efficiency of present procedures and systems and, where necessary, suggest new improvements.
  • To follow safe working practice in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Company’s Safety Policy.
  • From time to time to undertake duties not specifically mentioned above according to instructions from the National Sales Manager.

  • Excellent communication and customer‑relationship skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Highly motivated with strong team ethics.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Strong presentation skills, especially with CPDs.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.

Training / Qualification

  • Understanding of Building Industry practices.
  • Sales experience within the building industry.
