We are currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us at our Hoveringham Office in the position of Quantity Surveyor Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity, with yearly salary increases, to work towards becoming a fully skilled quantity surveyor at one of the UK’s leading building material manufacturers.

Apprenticeship summary:
- Working week - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Annual Salary - £20,800 per annum
- Expected duration - 48 months
- Start date - 1st September 2025
- Locations - Based at Hoveringham with visits to Somercotes
The Role includes but is not limited to:
- Contractual Matters: Assist with pre and post contract contractual matters such that the risk to the business is minimised.
- Contractual arrangements: Terms and conditions, re-let meeting minutes, order acknowledgements.
- Evaluation: Measurement and evaluation of work undertaken, preparation of interim valuations, preparation and submission of pro-forma accounts, prompt evaluation, submission, and agreement of variations with customers, evaluate impact of customer programme changes and update business systems accordingly, preparation, submission, and agreement of final accounts.
- Cash Management: Ensure payment terms agreed with customers are in line with the business’s policies, closely monitor customer projects to ensure work and services are undertaken within approved customer credit limits, collaborate closely with Customers and Credit Control team to ensure recovery of monies is maximised in a timely manner and is in accordance with agreed terms.
- Dispute Management: Investigate, manage, and conclude disputes with customers, consult with other functions as appropriate.
- Commercial Reporting: Contribute to commercial reporting, with regard to cost accruals, dispute provisions, accruals, revenue adjustments, project performance.
- Customer Development: Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships, attendance at relevant meetings with customers (with assistance from Senior Surveyors).
- Team Working: Contribute to continuous business process improvement through the adoption of best practice, contribute positively to departmental team meetings and discussions to enable knowledge sharing and one team working, proactively collaborate with all functional teams.
- Progress Monitoring: Review and identify personal objectives to achieve targets impacting on team objectives, proactively identify achievements, shortfalls, and areas for improvement against plans, agree and implement corrective actions.
Requirements and prospects
Essential skills and experience: Commercial acumen and financial awareness, numeracy, literacy, ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, excellent interpersonal, listening, negotiation, communication, IT, and presentation skills.
Desired skills & experience: Previous experience in a surveying/commercial role within the precast concrete sector, technical knowledge of pre-stressed Beam & Block, Insulated Ground Floor and Hollowcore products and precast staircases, knowledge of construction techniques and site constraints, ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, familiar with working in a target orientated business, willingness to be involved in other activities to achieve company objectives.
Personal qualities: Team player, self-motivated, trustworthy, honest, punctual and conscientious, good attention to detail.
Desired qualifications: Essential GCSE or equivalent - Mathematics, English; Desirable 'A' level - Mathematics, English.
Prospects: Fully trained Quantity Surveyor with potential for employment at the end of the apprenticeship.
