Here at Fortem, our trades are at the heart of our business. Our trade apprenticeship programme trains and develops our apprentices into the next generation of our trades, which is imperative to the success of our business. Our apprenticeship programme offers a fantastic opportunity to gain an industry recognised qualification as well as paid employment so you can “earn while you learn”. You will attend college on a day or block release basis and put your acquired knowledge and skills into practice “on the job” whilst working with your Trade mentor. On completion of your apprenticeship, you will be supported to progress into a permanent trade role within the team to continue your career and development journey.

We are delighted to confirm that we are looking for an Apprentice Carpenter to join our Orbit Housing contract, working in Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding areas. Joining an established apprenticeship scheme, we will provide a clear plan around your development that will support you to succeed to your full potential. Assessment Centres will be held at our Orbit office in Stratford-upon-Avon on March 18th or 19th 2025, but there may be other dates available. The start date will be September 2nd 2025, with a 2-day corporate induction at our Head Offices in Hitchin, followed by further induction and training at the Orbit branch location. The apprenticeship college course will commence shortly after your induction.

As an Apprentice at Fortem Solutions you will work alongside a Trade mentor, and you will:

  • Carry out a range of repairs within our customers' properties including carpentry repairs, kitchen repairs and fencing.
  • Complete general joinery including cutting and shaping timber for floorboards, doors, skirting boards and window frames.
  • Use the appropriate tools, materials and equipment to carry out first and second fix site carpenter tasks including roofs.
  • Undertake fire door replacement.
  • Be involved in wider business activities to enhance your learning and be supported to be involved in local community initiatives.

What You Will Need:

  • Take ownership for your own development.
  • Display good communication skills.
  • Have functional IT skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Great customer care approach.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • You must possess a high degree of manual dexterity as there will be frequent use of hand tools.
  • You will occasionally be required to work at height or be required to walk and stand on uneven ground.
  • You must also be able to work within a confined space, without restriction.
