Due to continued successful growth, we have a new permanent opportunity to join our Fortem Voids team at Cambridge Housing Society as a Qualified Electrician. The Electrician will be responsible for most aspects of property maintenance and repairs to Empty Void Social Housing Properties covering the region of Cambridgeshire which include Cambridge Central, and a patch that covers Royston, Duxford, Haverhill up to Peterborough and Wisbech so travel is essential.

Core Hours are Monday-Friday 8.00am-4.30pm - Work Van, Fuel card Tools provided! + Generous On call rota (1 week in every 6-8 weeks).

Our Services Cambridge Housing Society is one of our long term partnerships. We are responsible for all repairs and maintenance of their social housing properties which cover the Cambridgeshire region. Head office is based in Central Cambridge and the patch includes surrounding areas from Wisbech, Royston and Haverhill. There are nearly 3,000 properties, mostly houses and flats, and we look after a range of work including Repairs, Voids, Cyclical Works and Planned workstreams. We are currently rated as 4.5 on Glassdoor and 93% of staff would recommend to a friend!

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Taking ownership of work, aiming for 'First time Fix' on all jobs whilst remaining within budget and time parameters.
  • Carry out all aspects of maintenance and repairs on all electrical engineering services as required, ensuring all work is undertaken to a high standard with the minimum of supervision.
  • Installing, servicing and maintaining electrical systems and appliances in accordance with the current Edition of The IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Repair, inspect & test electrical installations and have the ability to fill in correctly, the appropriate Electrical Certificate or Electrical Condition Report.
  • Carry out EICRs and remedial upgrades to properties including Consumer unit changes.
  • Completing reactive maintenance work as per the specification.
  • Advising Supervisor in a timely manner when other trades are required.
  • Working in partnership with other operatives to complete projects.
  • Completing daily work sheets detailing work undertaken and materials used after each job undertaken.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both tenants and clients.

What you will need

Essential criteria:

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical (2356) with AM2 portfolio to support your experience (not just EAL). This can be a combination of C&G 2360 Part 1&2 Electrotechnical Competences plus the NVQ 3 Certificate 2356 with Technical Certs L2&3 plus the NVQ 3 Certificate or just the NVQ 3 2356 certificate.
  • C&G 18th Edition Certificate.
  • JIPB H&S Test Certificate with Current JIBP card.
  • Testing & Inspecting Certificate 2391 or C&G 2377 PAT Certificate.
  • Full UK driving license with less than 6 points and no recent driving bans.
  • Must be able to pass a Basic DBS Check.
