Due to our ongoing growth, we are currently recruiting for a driven and professional Quantity Surveyor to join our Orbit Housing contract, based in the office in Stratford-upon-Avon. As Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Commercial Manager and work in partnership with Operations Management. You will be working as part of a team of 10 and acting as a competent figure within the surveying structure with responsibility for supervising more junior members of the team.

The Quantity Surveyor ensures accurate reporting is fundamental to the role and will have a key focus on building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the company obtains value for money and receives the correct market value from the supply chain. This role will be working on our Planned works, so if you are a Project Surveyor or QS skilled in refurbishment or elemental works in terms of Residential upgrades to social housing, we would like to hear from you!

Our planned work revenues can range from £1-15 million in value and include works such as re-roofing, kitchen and bathroom replacements, window and door replacements, and electrical test and inspection programmes. You will be managing existing supply chain and local suppliers and using IT systems including Excel and Connect for regular data and reporting.

The Fortems contract with Orbit Housing covers over 17,000 houses across Stratford-upon-Avon, Coventry, Nuneaton, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Bedford. We have multiple workstreams, including Planned works, Re-Roofing, Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, and Capital Works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the parameters of the Contract and further commercial negotiations.
  • Ensure the project team achieve or exceed budgeted targets.
  • Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing, the implementation of appropriate procedures to resolve client queries, and ensuring cash is received when due.
  • Monitoring and analysis of management information and job cost against job revenue, supporting the operations and finance and enablement of data-driven decision making.
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager in the preparation and timely reporting of information including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC), and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through robust cost control.

Requirements:

  • Previous Quantity Surveying experience.
  • QS degree or relevant experience will be considered.
  • Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills.
  • Full UK driving licence for travel to working site locations.
  • Experience in Social Housing, National Housing Federation, SORs, and elemental works.
