Due to our ongoing growth, we are currently recruiting for a driven and professional Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Amplius social housing contract,

This will be office based in Loughborough LE11 + some hybrid flexibility will be considered.

Core hours working Mon- Fri 8.00am-4.30pm or 8.30am-5.00pm Includes Competitive Salary, Car allowance, Annual Bonus and Excellent benefits package.

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Managing Surveyor and work in partnership with the Operational Management Team, you will be working as part of a team. You will ensure accurate reporting is fundamental to the role and will have a key focus on building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the company obtains value for money and receives the correct market value from the supply chain.

This role will be working on TPC2005 (amended 2008) ACA Standard Form of Contract for Responsive Repairs and Voids, which includes Complex Repairs and when the opportunity arises of Capital Planned Works.

You will be commercially managing existing supply chain and local suppliers, including being part of the on-boarding process of any new supply chain required, and using Fortem IT systems including Excel and Connect for regular data and reporting PO\’s.

Fortem’s contract with Amplius Housing Group covers over 15,000 Social Housing properties across the Midlands. Duties and Responsibilities

As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work with the more senior commercial team members to ensure appropriate commercial controls are in place and adhered to, to secure the company’s full entitlement through the contract.

You will work with the Quantity Surveyor to negotiate with partners and control the commercial aspects of the supply chain for maximum leverage and to create economically advantageous arrangements for Fortem.

Supporting the Managing Surveyor in the preparation and timely reporting of information including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC), forecasting and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through robust cost control; You will build long term, influential relationships with preferred suppliers to provide flexibility to changing business needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the measurement of NHF schedule of rates and any contract bespoke rates and acting as a subject matter expert for contractual arrangements
  • Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the contract
  • Promote company values and procedures internally and externally.
  • Ensure project teams meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on contractual arrangements.
  • Maximise cash flow through invoicing and resolving client queries.
  • Monitor job costs and revenue to support data-driven decisions.
  • Manage disputes and identify potential issues early.
  • Ensure accurate cash flow forecasts and revenue profiles
  • Support financial reporting and cost control governance.
  • Oversee subcontractor orders, supplier onboarding, and team development.

What you will need

  • Previous experience within a similar surveying role
  • Social Housing, Knowledge of NHF SOR’s
  • Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development)
  • Negotiating and communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant contract conditions
  • Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel if required by the business.
  • QS degree or desire to study towards qualification Commercial Contractor exposure
