The Role
Due to continued successful growth, we have an excellent permanent opportunity to join our Fortem team at Orbit Housing as a Carpenter Multi Skilled Trade in our voids team.
The Carpenter Multi Trade will be responsible for various property maintenance and repairs in Social Housing Properties, utilizing core carpentry skills, basic plumbing, and additional multi-trade skills such as Tiling, Patch Plastering, Kitchen and Bathroom installation, or Flooring. You will cover a patch of social housing in Northamptonshire and surrounding areas, so travel is essential.
Core Hours are Monday to Friday, 8.00 am β 4.30 pm. A Work Van and Fuel card will be provided!
As a Carpenter Multi Trade, you will ensure all work is completed to a high standard with minimal supervision. The role requires ownership of work, aiming for \βFirst time Fix\β on all jobs, operating within company Health and Safety guidelines, and staying within budget and time parameters, while maintaining courteous and professional behavior around tenants in Void properties.
The Customer
Fortem\βs contract with Orbit Housing covers over 17,000 properties across Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Nuneaton, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Bedford. We manage multiple workstreams, including Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, Capital Works, and Re-Roofing. Duties and Responsibilities
- Completing carpentry and basic plumbing repairs for all void properties according to specifications, working efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Advising Supervisor promptly when other trades are needed.
- Collaborating with other operatives to complete projects.
- Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems and electronic devices.
- Providing excellent customer service to client representatives.
- Planning and purchasing materials needed for work efficiently.
- Complying with safeguarding policies and Health & Safety standards at all times.
- Following occupational road risk policies and procedures.
- Using a PDA smartphone to update colleagues on work progress and completion.
What you will need
Essential criteria:
- NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in Trade, or qualified by experience.
- Full UK driving license with a maximum of 5 points.
- No driving bans in the past 5 years.
- Ability to pass our basic DBS check.
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience in Social Housing.
