Fortem Solutions are currently recruiting for an Assistant Design Manager to join our Design team, based in our office in Sheffield.
The Company
Fortem Solutions are a nationwide business specialising in the Social Housing sector. We provide Repairs & Maintenance, Retrofit, Capital Works and Decarbonisation workstreams within Local Authorities and Housing Associations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support to lead and provide a professional, comprehensive and sustainable design service for the customer and key partners/suppliers at all delivery stages.
- Assist with reviewing design information and contractor’s designed portion packages at all RIBA Stages.
- Assist in establishing the design team and clarify and align understanding of scope and accountabilities to stakeholder and contractual requirements.
- With support review designer scopes of services.
- With support prepare design deliverables and design programmes.
- Identification, recording and mitigation of design and project Risks and Opportunities.
- Support the team ensuring pricing assumptions are consistent with the development of the design.
- With support ensure all roles and responsibilities of CDM is factored into the design by the design team, PD (PD advisor).
- With support liaison with the Commercial Team for cost checking and ensuring the design meets the project budget.
- Understand and help with monitoring design changes and change control.
What You Will Need
Essential
- Excellent communication as part of the delivery team.
- Some understanding of the construction industry.
- Able to adapt and change with environmental demands being placed on them, i.e. changing activities.
Desirable
- Either a College relevant construction course or a University bachelor's degree (Hons) in a relevant field such as Architecture, Building Surveying, Construction Management, or Architectural Technology.
