Due to rapid growth and continuous success, we are urgently seeking a Temporary Carpenter to join our Repairs and Maintenance team in Birmingham. Immediate start until 30/6/26. This is a temp role and the core working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am‑4:30pm.

The Customer

You will be part of one of Fortem’s largest Social Housing contracts, Birmingham City Council. This is an expanding £50 million Repairs & Maintenance, Capital Works and Retrofit contract and the largest social housing contract in Europe. We are responsible for over 22,500 properties in the Birmingham area including low, medium and a significant number of high‑rise blocks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completing all responsive carpentry repairs and maintenance work for social housing
  • Advising the Supervisor in a timely manner when other trades are required
  • Working in partnership with other operatives to complete projects
  • Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems and electronic devices
  • Providing excellent customer service to client representatives
  • Arranging purchase of materials required to deliver the works in a planned and efficient manner
  • Complying with safeguarding policy and H&S standards at all times
  • Operating within the company’s occupational road risk policies and procedures
  • Using a PDA, smartphone to correspond daily with colleagues to update progress and completion information for your allocated work

What you will need:

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

Essential:

  • NVQ/qualifications in relation to relevant trade (Carpentry or Plumbing) or equivalent. Anyone qualified by experience will also be considered.
  • Full driving licence (max 6 points) and must be able to pass basic DBS checks

Desirable:

  • Social housing experience
