The main purpose of the role is to develop, underwrite, report, analyse, service and portfolio manage a profitable book of general/miscellaneous non-life insurance business across Europe. The current portfolio mainly consists of schemes writing the following product categories through various distribution channels: Automotive extended warranty contracts, GAP insurance, Cosmetic Protection Products, Key Insurance, Mis-fueling, Roadside Assistance, Motor Excess (including car hire excess), Domestic Appliance extended warranty, Furniture Insurance (AD, structure, stains), Mobile/cell phone insurance (AD, theft, loss, screen protection).
Primary Job Functions
- Develop a profitable and sustainable book of GI business on a pan-European basis.
- Support the local Sales and Marketing teams to develop a healthy pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Manage and underwrite deals, including drafting risk assessments, pricing, negotiation and closing.
- Assist in relationship management with brokers and clients during the underwriting, negotiation and deal implementation stages.
- Manage portfolio profitability and re-negotiate renewal terms where appropriate, ensuring performance, key metrics and target loss ratios run to plan.
- Establish, manage, and implement appropriate underwriting guidelines within the business.
- Ensure claims management process is in line with pricing assumptions and that partners are administering business appropriately and in line with policy terms and conditions.
- Assist in the drafting of policy wordings, IPID’s, marketing material and client presentations.
- In conjunction with Compliance personnel, ensure products are designed and priced within the general regulatory framework for each territory.
- Liaise with actuarial, finance, legal, claims, operations and compliance in structuring and closing deals.
- Production of monthly/quarterly underwriting and sales reports.
- Maintenance and review of earnings tables, based on historical claims experience, relevant to term, product and territory.
- Undertake regular client review meetings.
- Assist in the production of distributor Product Oversight and Governance (POG) papers, where required.
- Build high levels of credibility and positive brand recognition for Fortegra.
- Occasional travel required to support the development of the role, liaise closely with colleagues and develop existing operations and partnerships, where appropriate.
- Embrace new technology, implementation of systems and processes and support file sharing and document storage.

Skills & Competencies Required
- Degree / MBA.
- 8+ years insurance industry experience.
- Excellent technical underwriting and portfolio management skills aligned with strong commercial acumen.
- Experience in building and managing profitable business.
- Good technical knowledge of insurance products (preferably warranty based), policy coverages, including the drafting of compliant wordings.
- Experience of regulatory bodies and frameworks.
- Ability to liaise with internal stakeholders at all levels and where relevant, presenting results and findings to boards and committees.
- Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies or inaccuracies.
- Effective presentation and project management skills.
- Trustworthy, loyal, honest with high integrity and a strong commercial acumen.
- Team player, confident in challenging business leaders in a methodical and constructive manner.
- Results driven, motivated and takes responsibility for actions and results.
- Pro-active and willing to take on new challenges, with a continuous improvement mindset.
