To source, underwrite and portfolio manage a diverse range of MGA partnerships across UK and Europe in line with Company underwriting targets, strategy and appetite. The role sits within the Specialty division of Fortegra Europe and will report to the Chief Underwriting Officer. The candidate will be joining an experienced and motivated team working across all lines of business. They must be able to build strong working relationships with MGA partners and brokers. This is a London based role.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the assigned business portfolio in line with underwriting and financial targets;
- Meet and negotiate with clients and brokers to build relationships and to develop new and renewal MGA programme business;
- Analyse, evaluate and make underwriting decisions in line with underwriting guidelines and recommendations, coordinating with other team members;
- Review and analyse new MGA program applications for risk exposure and compliance with underwriting guidelines;
- Review technical, policy and contract wordings;
- Review, evaluate and report on loss activity across the assigned portfolio of business;
- Review and manage MI across the assigned portfolio of business;
- Production of regular underwriting reports;
- Responsible for underwriting document filings, accuracy of data entries to systems and contract integrity for accounts underwritten;
- Adhere to appropriate internal underwriting procedures and criteria to control risk;
- Adhere to internal governance and compliance procedures to control risk.
Skills And Competencies
- Strong underwriting knowledge and experience across a broad range of products and business lines;
- UK and / or European underwriting experience essential;
- Experience of delegated authority market is essential;
- Competent use of Microsoft applications;
- Strong analytic skills and numerical aptitude is essential;
- Confident in personal ability and willing to develop personal and business skill set;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, together with the ability to work well in a dynamic team environment;
- Trustworthy, loyal and honest with high integrity;
- Team player with the ability to work with, collaborate with and take direction from other people;
- Results driven and takes responsibility for own actions;
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to multi-task;
- Ability to meet deadlines without compromising consistency in the process;

Key Deliverables
- Support the delivery of a balanced and profitable underwriting portfolio across UK & Europe;
- Work collaboratively as part of a highly motivated team, developing and maintaining regular and strong communication with other members of the team;
- Evidence strong working relationships with MGA partners and brokers across their assigned portfolio of business;
- Demonstrate ongoing oversight of MGA partners and brokers to ensure adherence to contract terms and regulatory and compliance requirements.
Qualifications And Experience
- Relevant technical qualification;
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, Masters Degree preferable.
- A minimum of 5 years' underwriting MGA/Delegated experience in the UK or European market.
