Interim Commercial Legal Counsel | Contracts & Legal Operations
London | Hybrid (3 days per week in the office) | 3–6 month assignment | Immediate start preferred
The opportunity
We’re partnering with a fast-growing technology scale-up looking for an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join its team on an interim basis.
This is an opportunity to combine hands‑on commercial contracting with a meaningful legal operations improvement project. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders to support day‑to‑day commercial activity while helping make the contracting function more efficient, scalable and technology-enabled.
What you’ll be doing
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Advising stakeholders on commercial risks and practical solutions.
- Improving contract templates, playbooks, approval processes and contract management workflows.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline contracting through legal technology, automation and AI.
- Helping improve the efficiency and consistency of the end‑to‑end contracting lifecycle.
- Supporting other day‑to‑day in‑house legal matters as required.
What we’re looking for
- Strong commercial contracts experience, ideally gained in‑house or in a commercially focused legal practice.
- The ability to provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice.
- Experience improving contracting processes, templates, systems or workflows, or a strong interest in developing this expertise.
- Confidence working with stakeholders across a fast‑paced business.
- A proactive, hands‑on approach and the ability to make an impact quickly.
- Experience with contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems, legal technology or AI‑enabled workflows would be an advantage.
- Duration: 3–6 months initially, with potential to extend.
- Location: Central London, with at least 3 days per week in the office.
- Start date: As soon as possible, short‑notice availability preferred (less than 1 month).
