We are hiring a commercially-minded Managing Director to take full ownership of a UK Grant Management software business, plus two other businesses. You will lead strategy, people, product, and P&L, working closely with a financially-driven ownership / M&A group and positioning the business for scalable, profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the P&L, cashflow, and growth plan for the business.
- Lead and develop a small, multi-disciplinary team (sales, CS, product, engineering, ops).
- Drive ARR and EBITDA growth through pricing, upsell/cross-sell, retention and new logo acquisition.
- Deepen relationships with social housing providers, councils, and housing associations; act as a visible, credible MD with customers.
- Shape and prioritise the product roadmap in response to regulatory change and customer needs.
- Implement data-driven operating rhythms: KPIs, dashboards, monthly performance reviews, board packs.
- Work closely with the ownership / portfolio group on strategy, capital allocation, and potential bolt-ons.
- Ensure strong governance, compliance, and risk management appropriate for public sector clients.
Ideal Profile
- Proven experience as a Managing Director / GM / BU Leader in B2B software group, ideally vertical or Grant-sector SaaS.
- Background in Grant Management software business, strongly preferred.
- Must have experience in working for a M&A, or Group company.
- Must be exceptionally strong around commercials, as well as owning the P&L.
- Comfortable running a small, hands-on organisation (c.15 people) – able to zoom between strategy and execution.
- Strong financial literacy: P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, KPI design.
- Must-have / strong plus: experience working for an M&A or portfolio group (e.g. Lumine, Constellation, PE-backed holdco) that acquires and scales smaller businesses within a wider portfolio.
- Commercially sharp: evidence of revenue growth, margin improvement, or successful turnaround.
- Clear, decisive leadership style with the ability to build culture and accountability in a remote-first team.
- Clear route to a future Portfolio Manager / Operating Partner-style role across multiple software businesses within the group for a high-performing MD.
