We’re partnering with a growing, technology-led financial services business to find a Technical Product Owner to take ownership of a high-volume customer onboarding and application platform that sits at the heart of their operations. This is not a feature-factory PO role. It’s a systems ownership position, ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys untangling legacy architecture, and can confidently operate between engineering and senior stakeholders. You’ll be stepping into a business investing heavily in modernisation, documentation, and internal capability, with real influence over how systems evolve.
Why This Role?
- Own a Mission-Critical Platform - Take end-to-end responsibility for a system processing over 100,000 customer applications annually.
- Real Influence, Not Just Backlog Grooming - Work directly with a Technical Development Lead and senior operational stakeholders to shape decisions and prioritisation.
- Architectural Thinking Without Coding - Assess legacy components, cloud infrastructure, APIs and integrations, then return to the business with evidence-based recommendations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Taking ownership of a complex, workflow-driven customer application system.
- Building a deep understanding of legacy components, AWS infrastructure, and third-party integrations.
- Reviewing documentation, identifying knowledge gaps, and improving system artefacts.
- Working closely with developers to assess feasibility, constraints, and technical debt.
- Translating technical findings into clear recommendations for business stakeholders.
- Supporting backlog refinement and prioritisation without being overly process-heavy.
- Acting as the “Yes we can / No we can’t” voice of clarity across the business.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner, Systems Product Owner, or Technical Business Analyst.
- Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and cloud-hosted systems (AWS).
- Experience working in regulated or financial services environments.
- Comfortable operating in legacy environments undergoing modernisation.
- Confident working alongside developers and technical leads.
- Able to challenge constructively and communicate clearly at senior level.
