Test & Defect Manager – Manhattan WMS Upgrade
Contract length: 6 months initially
IR 35 Status: Outside
Day rate: Competitive
Location: Northwest Corridor (Liverpool–Manchester) Hybrid: 3–4 days onsite per week
We are seeking an experienced Test & Defect Manager to lead testing across a large-scale Manhattan WMS upgrade. This is a high-impact role overseeing multiple workstreams and delivery partners in a fast-paced retail transformation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate testing across six workstreams and multiple delivery partners.
- Own the test strategy, test planning, execution, and defect management lifecycle.
- Provide clear, confident reporting on test progress, risks, and defect status to senior stakeholders (including Directors and COOs).
- Ensure strong test governance, accurate defect triage, and timely resolution under tight deadlines.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Solution Architects, and Automation partners to keep delivery on track.
- Maintain a strong on-site presence (3–4 days per week) with flexibility for peak delivery periods.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Test Manager or Test & Defect Manager on complex transformation programmes.
- Strong WMS experience, ideally with Manhattan.
- Hands-on expertise in test management and test automation.
- Experience managing multiple testing teams across vendors and internal functions.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage and influence senior leadership.
- Calm, structured leader who thrives under pressure and maintains delivery focus.
Desirable
- Retail and Consultancy sector experience, particularly in large-scale system upgrades or transformations.
- Experience working in multi-stream, enterprise-scale programmes.
