We are supporting a well established and highly regulated organisation in London that is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and enhance its technology estate, ensure system reliability, strengthen IT security, and support ongoing operational performance.
This role is responsible for managing Windows-based infrastructure running on VMware, supporting core network services, administering security tools, and contributing to an environment where technology is central to day-to-day operations. You will partner closely with internal teams, respond to escalated issues, and ensure systems are optimised, secure, and resilient.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and support a Windows-based server and workstation environment.
- Manage VMware ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and vCenter including provisioning, performance, and troubleshooting.
- Configure and maintain network infrastructure including Extreme switches, Extreme wireless access points, and Fortinet routers.
- Manage enterprise security tools including Sentinel Antivirus, Darktrace AI protection, Delinea PAM, Automox patching, Office 365, and Rapid7 vulnerability management.
- Monitor performance and implement improvements across infrastructure systems.
- Support incident resolution and escalation for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Assist with backup and disaster recovery process and readiness.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for configurations, procedures, and IT operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand requirements and deliver infrastructure solutions that meet business needs.
- Apply IT security best practices across firewalls, patching, and vulnerability management.
- Proven experience working in a Senior or Infrastructure Engineering role in a Windows and VMware environment.
- Strong knowledge of virtualisation, networking fundamentals, routing, switching, and wireless access.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Sentinel, Darktrace, Delinea PAM, Automox, Office 365 and Rapid7 or similar security platforms.
- Understanding of backup strategies, continuity planning, and disaster recovery.
- Ability to write documentation, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and support change initiatives.
- A proactive problem solver with strong attention to detail and a focus on performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
