Job Title: IT Business Partner (Business Unit)

Location: London (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

This role, part of the UK&I IT Business Partner Team, will serve as the primary point of contact between a specialist business unit and the UK&I IT function.

The candidate will ensure that:

  • The UK&I IT team are fully aware of the business unit’s strategy and challenges.
  • The business unit is fully benefitting from existing IT capabilities as well as new innovation delivered by the UK&I IT team.
  • Issues, challenges and opportunities are triaged to the correct members of the UK&I IT team.
  • Value delivered through business automation and technology initiatives is built into investment plans and realised through high-quality programme delivery, oversight, adoption and value tracking.
  • They attend, or delegate attendance where appropriate, at key business forums to ensure IT has all relevant insights to drive optimal value.

As part of this role, the postholder will oversee and coordinate IT changes within the business unit, and manage the integration of IT systems and processes within newly acquired entities. This includes coordinating with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to business operations.

Additionally, the candidate will ensure that major transformation programmes are correctly established, with adoption planned and executed in line with agreed business cases.

Success will be measured by value delivery to the business unit, protection of existing operations, and satisfaction of key business customers and leadership.

Key Activities Include

  • Ensuring the UK&I IT team has clarity on the business unit’s strategy, challenges and support requirements.
  • Reviewing change being delivered across other areas of the organisation and ensuring relevant updates are communicated and implemented as appropriate.
  • Developing a deep understanding of current and future automation and technology requirements, and establishing the best technology fit for the business unit.
  • Influencing and shaping technology demand and maintaining a clear Technology Roadmap.
  • Developing and securing support for technology investment cases, supported by robust adoption and value-assurance plans.
  • Holding IT service owners to account for services provided, and establishing service measurement and assurance practices to protect day-to-day operations.
  • Owning and managing IT service failure escalations, including Incident and Problem Management (RCA and CAPA).
  • Working with the PMO, Product Owners and Engineering Leads to ensure the business unit’s roadmap is incorporated into planning and solution design.
  • Aligning business unit requirements with the organisation’s target technology model.

IT M&A / Integrations

  • Develop, implement and maintain integration plans including timelines, milestones and deliverables.
  • Working with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks and issues as they arise.
  • Engaging appropriate IT resources assigned to integration activities.

Place of work

UK, with travel to the main office as required (up to 50%).

  • Value Assurance: Ability to develop value‑assurance plans underpinned by strong change and adoption planning.
  • Project Management: Ability to define and implement integration plans, manage resources and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks and issues.
  • Communication: Strong capability to communicate progress and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors for seamless IT integration.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, with the ability to ensure compliance throughout integration and change activities.
