About the Client

Forsyth Barnes is proud to be exclusively partnered with a key infrastructure organisation operating at the heart of the UK’s energy system. Our client plays a critical role in transporting energy across the country, supporting both the transition to net zero and the security of national supply. As part of their ongoing transformation, they are looking to enhance data-led decision-making through strengthened analytics and environmental reporting.

The Opportunity

We’re currently recruiting for a Data Visualisation Analyst to join our client’s Reporting and Insights Team, with a specific focus on the delivery and development of Environmental Reports. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on translating complex datasets into clear, compelling visual stories that influence operational and strategic outcomes.

Working cross-functionally with the Sustainability, IT, Data, and Operational teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing dashboards (primarily using Power BI), providing high-quality data analysis, and driving engagement with key stakeholders. Your insights will directly support the organisation’s Environmental Action Plan and its wider journey towards net zero.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain intuitive, user-friendly dashboards and reports using Power BI.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data from various sources to support internal and external environmental reporting.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the business and externally to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Support the Environmental & Sustainability team with visual and data-driven outputs that inform decision-making and policy development.
  • Champion the value of environmental data reporting, contributing to benchmarking activities and progress tracking against key environmental commitments.
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure shared understanding and alignment of reporting outputs.
  • Communicate data insights clearly and effectively, tailoring messages for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate across departments including data specialists, IT teams, and operational leads to streamline data flow and quality.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualisation.
  • Proficiency with Power BI (or other BI tools) and experience in developing interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Ability to communicate complex data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, numeracy, and written communication skills.

Desirable:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject such as Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Analytics.
  • Experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Familiarity with carbon footprint methodologies and reporting (e.g. Scope 1, 2, 3; Greenhouse Gas Protocol).
  • Understanding of environmental and sustainability reporting standards (e.g. ISSB S1 and S2).

Why This Role?

  • Join a purpose-driven organisation making a tangible impact on the UK’s energy future.
  • Be part of an inclusive and collaborative team where data is central to decision-making.
  • Contribute to the UK’s environmental goals by enabling better reporting and insights.
  • Benefit from a hybrid working model and opportunities to develop your career in a meaningful sector.
