An established and growing consultancy operating within the energy and utilities sector is looking to appoint a senior leader to support its next phase of growth. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, entrepreneurial Client Director or Partner to play a significant role in developing the business, strengthening client relationships and driving commercial performance.
The consultancy works with organisations across the wider energy, utilities and infrastructure markets, delivering strategic advisory, business transformation and specialist consulting services. With an established UK-wide consulting team and a strong market presence, the business is looking to strengthen its senior leadership capability with someone who combines consultancy experience, commercial leadership, strong industry relationships and a genuine ability to win new business.
This is a commercially focused leadership position, not simply a consultancy delivery or people management role. The successful individual will be expected to actively generate revenue, develop new client relationships, identify opportunities and take ownership of growing accounts and commercial performance. There is also potential for the right individual to join at Partner level, depending on experience and commercial track record, or to progress towards this over time.
The Role
Working closely with the existing senior leadership team, you will take ownership of developing client relationships, driving commercial growth and helping shape the future direction of the business. Key responsibilities will include:
- Business Development & Revenue Growth: Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities, taking ownership of revenue generation and commercial growth.
- Client Relationships: Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the energy and utilities sector, positioning the business as a strategic consultancy partner.
- P&L Ownership: Demonstrate a genuine track record of owning and growing a P&L, with clear evidence of revenue generation, profitability and business growth.
- Consultancy Leadership: Identify client challenges, shape propositions and develop high-value consulting engagements.
- Strategic Growth: Work alongside the senior leadership team to identify new markets, expand existing accounts and contribute to the wider business strategy.
- Team Leadership: Develop and lead high-performing consulting teams, creating an environment where talented consultants can thrive.
- Market Presence: Leverage your industry network, reputation and relationships to create opportunities and strengthen the consultancy's market position.
- Leadership & Culture: Play an active role in the senior leadership team, contributing ideas, challenging constructively and helping shape the culture and direction of the business.
The Background We're Looking For
The business is open-minded about an individual's specific career path. What matters most is the combination of commercial capability, sector knowledge and personality. Ideally, you will bring:
- A strong background in management consultancy, ideally within the energy and utilities sector.
- Experience working with clients across areas such as electricity networks, distribution, transmission, grid, water or wider infrastructure.
- A demonstrable track record of winning new business and generating revenue.
- Evidence of genuine P&L ownership, rather than simply managing a pipeline or overseeing business development activity.
- Experience developing and growing senior client relationships.
- The credibility and confidence to operate at Board and C-suite level.
- Experience leading and developing consulting teams.
- An established network of relationships within the utilities and energy markets.
