Interim Finance / Financial Modelling Consultant
Location: Hybrid (UK-based, occasional office attendance β Cheltenham once per week)
Contract: Initial 3β6 months (strong likelihood of extension)

The Role
We are looking for an experienced interim finance professional to support a growing organisation with the development of multiple business cases and complex financial models as part of a major programme of work. This is not a traditional accounts role. The focus is firmly on finance rather than accounting, supporting senior stakeholders in making informed investment and delivery decisions. You will take ownership of building robust financial models from scratch, shaping assumptions, identifying variables, and producing clear, decision-ready outputs for both internal validation and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own multiple business cases, ranging from straightforward to highly complex
- Build detailed financial models to assess investment decisions, margins, ROI and risk
- Translate high-level commercial ideas into structured financial frameworks
- Work with senior stakeholders to define assumptions, inputs and scenarios
- Produce different versions of business cases for:
- Source and validate financial data (e.g. industry benchmarks, public sector or housing/property data)
- Clearly explain outputs and recommendations to non-finance stakeholders
- Operate autonomously with minimal hand-holding
Required Experience
- Strong background in finance, financial modelling or commercial finance
- Proven experience producing business cases and investment appraisals
- Comfortable working with complex financial data (not data analytics or BI-focused)
- Experience within property, housing, real estate, infrastructure or development is highly desirable
- Able to start quickly and deliver value immediately in a lean environment
