Contract: 6 Months
Location: Remote, UK
IR35: Outside IR35
Day Rate: Competitive
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Blue Yonder Functional Consultant to join a leading retailer on a 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for assessing the current Blue Yonder WMS environment ahead of a planned lift-and-shift into a new Distribution Centre (DC).
This is a delivery-focused position – the retailer does not have an internal technical team, so you will act as the sole Blue Yonder expert, responsible for both assessment and execution, including reviewing and coding within the system.
The workload will ramp up gradually:
- Initially 3 days per week
- Moving to 4 days per week
- Then 5 days per week as the project progresses
- Onsite requirements will also reduce over time:
- First few weeks: 2–3 days onsite (Stowmarket, Suffolk)
- Thereafter: 1 day onsite per week (with additional DC travel as required, notice given)
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and review the current Blue Yonder WMS setup prior to migration.
- Provide a functional and technical review of the system, including code assessment.
- Deliver hands-on technical work – no separate coding/support team available.
- Identify issues, risks, and optimisation opportunities for the migration.
- Advise stakeholders on best practices for Blue Yonder WMS in a retail DC environment.
- Support design and planning of the lift-and-shift into the new DC.
Skills & Experience Required
- Expert-level experience with Blue Yonder (JDA) WMS – functional + technical.
- Proven ability to review, interpret, and code within Blue Yonder.
- Strong track record of end-to-end WMS assessments and implementations.
- Comfortable being the sole Blue Yonder authority on a project.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Flexibility to travel to different DCs when required (with notice).
- Blue Yonder Discrete WMS experience
