Job Description

This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on building, improving, and extending the core platform. You will work closely with the founders and take ownership of key areas of the product from WordPress/WooCommerce development through to custom integrations, APIs, and performance optimisation. This is not a DevOps or infrastructure‑led role. It is a product engineering role with leadership responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain WordPress / WooCommerce‑based eCommerce systems
  • Develop custom plugins, themes, and backend functionality (PHP)
  • Design and integrate APIs and third‑party systems
  • Work across the full stack (PHP + JavaScript)
  • Improve platform performance, stability, and scalability
  • Contribute to architecture and technical decision‑making
  • Support and mentor other developers where required
  • Work directly with founders to shape product direction

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with PHP development
  • Proven experience with WordPress and/or WooCommerce
  • Experience building custom plugins or themes
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript (vanilla, React or Vue preferred)
  • Experience with APIs and third‑party integrations
  • Comfortable working in fast‑moving, product‑focused environments
  • Able to take ownership of features from concept to deployment
