Are you an organised, hands-on operator who thrives in fast-paced venues? We are looking for a proactive Business Manager to support the Executive Director with the operational, commercial and logistical delivery of a busy racing and events venue. This is a varied, people-focused role where no two days are the same—perfect for someone who loves problem-solving, event delivery, and building strong relationships across teams, suppliers and customers.
Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Director in overseeing catering and operational teams to ensure exceptional customer experiences.
- Lead and deliver non-catering events including self-catered weddings and bespoke functions.
- Take a hands-on approach to day-to-day venue operations, stepping in wherever needed.
- Assist the Hospitality & Events Manager with show rounds, planning and customer engagement.
- Manage logistical preparation for racedays and events, working closely with operations and catering.
- Build strong relationships with key customers, sponsors, contractors and industry stakeholders.
- Act as a main point of contact for on-site queries, including annual members, owners and trainers.
- Uphold the venue's brand values, ensuring facilities and service levels meet the highest standards.
- Support safe working practices across the venue in line with H&S and operational policies.
- Assist with marketing coordination—liaising with sales and marketing teams to create content and campaigns.
- Oversee operational areas such as cleaning rotas, site setup, signage, suppliers and compliance.
- Manage raceday logistics including steward coordination, pass systems, racecards, bookmaking areas and supplier communications.
- Ensure non-raceday event setup, breakdown and costings are delivered professionally and efficiently.
- Foster a flexible, collaborative working culture within the team.
Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum 2 years' experience in venue or event operations—stadia or racing experience is an advantage but not essential.
- Strong organisational and logistical planning skills.
- Experience coordinating event build, delivery and breakdown.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and customers.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Hard-working, flexible and a strong team player with a positive attitude.
Desirable
- Experience in customer engagement roles.
- Background in supporting marketing or sales teams.
- Understanding of H&S procedures, risk assessments, COSHH and safe systems of work.
