We are delighted to be partnered exclusively with a longstanding and successful organisation in the Southport area who have been established for over 25 years. Privately-owned and award-winning, our client is offering an exciting opportunity to join a growing business as part of their busy finance team of 5 staff. Due to retirement, they are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to work in a stand-alone role - the ideal candidate will have strong time management skills, be proactive and able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, duties will include:
- Processing weekly payroll for employees, ensuring that all statutory and contractual obligations are met
- Managing a complex payroll and completing calculations on Excel which are then submitted to a payroll bureau
- Ensuring accurate calculation of pay based on Time & Attendance system data, hours worked, overtime rates, piece work, sick pay and holiday pay
- Using formulas and v-look ups on Excel to prepare payroll information and for payroll KPI reporting
- Processing new starter/leaver information on Excel/Time & Attendance software and sending to payroll bureau
- Administering statutory deductions - Income Tax (PAYE), National Insurance, pensions, salary sacrifices, student loans, etc.
- Calculating benefits in kind and processing court orders/attachment of earnings
- Investigating payroll errors with Line Managers and dealing with payroll queries from employees via telephone, email and face to face
- Reconciling payroll reports/payslips and processing month end payroll journals
- Ensuring compliance with Government payroll regulations
- Assisting with payroll audits and HMRC reporting
Hours of Work:
- Monday to Friday (9am-5pm)
- 37.5 hours per week

If you are an experienced Payroll professional who wants to join a growing business which will offer a full handover with the leaver, we want to hear from you! Sage Payroll experience and intermediate Excel skills are an advantage, along with CIPP qualification (although this is not essential). Strong communication skills and the ability to work on own initiative are important and the role does offer the potential to progress into a Payroll Manager position in the future.
