We are looking for a detail‑driven and experienced Payroll Officer to join a growing team in Manchester. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining employee records, and supporting both site and office teams with payroll‑related queries.
Responsibilities
- Processing payroll for 500+ employees
- Maintaining accurate employee records (starters, leavers, contract changes)
- Calculating and processing statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc)
- Ensuring correct application of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and other deductions
- Processing bonuses, overtime, expenses and payroll adjustments
- Managing RTI submissions and liaising with HMRC regarding P45s, P60s and tax code changes
- Supporting auto‑enrolment pension scheme administration
- Responding to payroll queries professionally and promptly
- Expenses processing
- Monitor and record holiday, sickness and absences
Essentials
- Minimum 2 years’ payroll experience with good working knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory payments
- Experience using payroll software
- Confident using Excel and payroll systems
- Reliable, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality
