Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm Our client is looking for a Technical Sales Engineer with a technical or engineering background and experience selling capital equipment, machinery or industrial products.

This is a consultative role focused on understanding customers' needs, providing expert advice and recommending the right solutions rather than simply selling products.

Full product training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems and developing long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities as a Technical Sales Engineer

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing customers.
  • Carry out customer sites visits to understand production and packaging requirements.
  • Advise customers on suitable machinery and consumable solutions.
  • Produce accurate quotations and oversee sales opportunities from initial enquiry through to completion.
  • Manage and update customer activity and opportunities using the CRM system
  • Liaise with service engineers to ensure customers receive a seamless and high-quality service.
  • Offer technical guidance and first-line support to customers when required.
  • Identify opportunities to develop sales within existing customer accounts.
  • Attend industry exhibitions, supplier visits and occasional overseas manufacturer training.
  • Act as a professional ambassador for the business, developing long-term customer relationships. Desirables of a Technical Sales Engineer
  • Technical or engineering background ESSENTIAL.
  • Previous experience selling capital equipment, machinery or industrial products is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.

  • A consultative approach, with the confidence to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Commercially aware with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Able to manage multiple enquiries and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Experience using CRM software desirable.
  • Knowledge of the packaging, manufacturing or automation sectors is beneficial.
  • Experience carrying out customer site surveys or product demonstrations is desirable.
  • Able to explain technical information clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Self-motivated, reliable and committed to delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Eager to develop new skills and build a long-term career within a growing business.
