We are looking for a Logistics Assistant to join our Freight and Distribution team. Reporting into our Logistics Manager, this role will support the efficient planning, coordination, and execution of transport and logistics operations, including van driving, route planning, vehicle maintenance, alongside container & equipment storage, maintenance & loading. This role ensures timely and compliant movement of goods and equipment across domestic and international routes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transport Operations: Drive company vans for scheduled and ad-hoc deliveries and collections; Contribute towards the planning of transport & freight movements; Coordinate ad-hoc transport bookings and movements as required.
  • Fleet and Vehicle Management: Monitor and schedule vehicle and plant maintenance to ensure operational readiness; Ensure vehicle compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; Order fuel and manage toll payments for domestic routes.
  • Container and Equipment Handling: Ensure storage facilities and operational areas are maintained and organised; Assist with container refurbishment and refresh activities (e.g., relabelling, cleaning, tidying & repairs); Position containers for operational access or storage, ensuring readiness for loading/unloading; Assist with loading/unloading of stillages and pallets and general freight preparation; Operate forklifts as trained in compliance with H&S requirements and regulations; Report any damages to equipment, plant, containers and vehicles.
  • Other: Occasional travel may be required; You may be asked for flexibility in working hours to support operational demands.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Personal Qualities: Flexible and adaptable; Process driven and detail orientated; Proactive, with a willingness to carry out additional tasks or responsibilities as directed by your manager or the management team.
  • Qualifications: You will need to have current UK driving license in this role. Not essential to be successful in the role but you may also have the following qualifications: HGV license; Forklift certification/competency.
  • Experience: Experience in transport planning and logistics coordination; Remaining compliant with company safety and security protocols; Desirable: Experience using logistics or fleet management software.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Dangerous goods awareness; Familiarity with shipping documentation and customs procedures; Basic mechanical understanding for vehicle/plant maintenance coordination; Strong organisational skills and attention to detail; Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
