Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Audio Engineer to join our Media Engineering team, supporting the delivery of high-quality audio output across live Formula 1 broadcasts and day-to-day operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring world-class broadcast standards are maintained both at the Media & Technical Centre in Biggin Hill and across global Grand Prix events.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality audio and communication systems under the pressures of a live broadcast environment
  • Install, commission, maintain, and operate audio and talkback equipment at both the Media & Technical Centre and race events
  • Provide engineering support during events, both remotely and on-site at circuits
  • Assist in the design, development, and upgrade of audio and communication infrastructure
  • Support the implementation of new and emerging audio technologies
  • Work closely with senior engineers on technical projects and system improvements
  • Ensure broadcast deliverables meet the requirements of multiple global partners
  • Represent the organisation when liaising with broadcast partners and stakeholders

What Are We Looking For?

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of broadcast audio systems and signal flow
  • Knowledge of how audio integrates within a wider broadcast environment
  • Familiarity with synchronisation (sync and clocking) principles
  • Experience using monitoring tools and troubleshooting technical issues
  • Understanding of broadcast deliverables and partner requirements
  • Competence with communication (comms) systems and basic programming
  • Working knowledge of control systems and their operation
  • Aware of health & safety standards within a technical environment
  • Understanding of IP networking fundamentals relevant to audio (e.g. subnets, VLANs, multicast)

Experience

  • Have a background in broadcast audio environments
  • Some desirable experience that you may bring to the role:
  • Experience working on world feed broadcast productions
  • Audio guarantee or operational broadcast event experience
  • Involvement in technical or infrastructure projects
  • Experience with RF equipment and field recording
  • Knowledge of surround sound mixing environments
  • Experience creating system schematics (e.g. AutoCAD or Lucidchart)

Qualifications

  • Full UK/EU driving licence (essential)
  • Formal qualification in Audio Engineering or a related field (desirable)

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and highly organised
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Able to prioritise effectively in high-pressure environments
  • Proactive with a strong interest in evolving audio technologies
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with internal teams and external partners
