Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Service Technician role based in Gloucester. The Service Technician will carry out routine vehicle servicing, inspections and mechanical repairs in line with company and manufacturer standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing faults
  • Performing maintenance on components such as brakes, tyres, exhausts, clutches and batteries
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT tests
  • Completing service records accurately
  • Maintaining a clean, organised work area
  • Interacting with customers to explain identified issues and discuss recommended work
  • Providing a professional and transparent service experience

Qualifications

  • Strong vehicle maintenance & repair skills, including scheduled servicing and component replacement.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and systematic problem-solving.
  • Experience in maintenance practices, including preventative maintenance and safety checks.
  • Customer service skills to interact clearly and respectfully with customers, explaining technical information in an accessible way.
  • Previous experience in a workshop, garage or fast‑fit / field service environment is beneficial.
  • Relevant automotive qualification (e.g., NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent) preferred, or proven hands‑on experience in vehicle servicing.
  • Ability to follow health and safety procedures and work effectively as part of a team in a busy autocentre.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK.
