We are looking for a Senior Broadcast Design Engineer to play a key role in the design, build and commissioning of world‑class broadcast engineering systems. You will take senior technical responsibility for complex broadcast infrastructure projects, ensuring systems are resilient, future‑proofed and meet demanding live broadcast requirements across both fixed facilities and live event environments. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you will contribute to the technical direction of broadcast engineering solutions and support the ongoing evolution of broadcast technology and standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead in the design, build and commissioning of broadcast engineering systems and future media engineering projects
- Design and upgrade broadcast infrastructure across permanent facilities and live event environments
- Act as a senior technical contributor within the Media Engineering team, working closely with other departments
- Work with external suppliers and systems integrators, ensuring designs are delivered to specification and quality standards
- Produce detailed system schematics and drawings using AutoCAD
- Keep up to date with emerging broadcast technologies and contribute ideas for future engineering solutions
- Prepare detailed project costings and support delivery within approved budgets
- Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers, sharing best practice and knowledge
- Produce reports and technical documentation as required
- Operate safely at all times in line with health and safety requirements
- Complete mandatory training and undertake additional duties appropriate to the role as required
What Are We Looking For?

You’ll be comfortable taking ownership of your work while supporting and influencing others through your expertise.
Experience
Prior to the role it would be essential that you:
- Have 5+ years’ experience in broadcast systems engineering
- Have strong hands‑on experience designing and engineering broadcast infrastructure, including IP‑based systems
- Demonstrate experience in systems design, integration and commissioning
- Be comfortable fault‑finding in live broadcast and production environments
- Have experience delivering work to tight deadlines and under pressure
Some desirable experience that you may bring to the role:
- Previous experience in broadcast systems integration
- Experience delivering medium to large‑scale broadcast design and build projects
- Exposure to HD, UHD, HDR, 3G and IP broadcast standards
- Experience with major live events or sports broadcasting
- Familiarity with cloud or hybrid media workflows
Qualifications
BSc or equivalent qualification in Broadcast Television Engineering or a related discipline (desirable). Networking or broadcast‑related certifications (e.g. CCNA) are advantageous.
