Fibre Operations Engineer
We are currently recruiting for a Fibre Operations Engineer to join our team based at our Media and Technology Centre in Biggin Hill. The successful candidate will carry out testing, termination, maintenance and logistical coordination of all Fibre drums and related hardware managed by Circuit Networks for deployment at the F1 events.
Responsibilities
- Testing, terminating, and repairing single-mode fibre
- Conducting OTDR, ILM, OPM and end-face inspections
- Diagnosing faults and ensuring accurate reporting
- Supporting installation, commissioning, and scheduled maintenance
- Managing inventory, equipment, and asset records
- Planning and coordinating fibre deployment for major events
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Collaborating with internal teams and mentoring junior technicians
Requirements
- Experience of fibre optical technologies including the testing, servicing and termination of single mode fibre using a variety of connectors.
- Proficient in OTDR testing, fusion splicing, fibre termination and installation of fibre optic cable.
- Ability to perform in depth root cause analysis of system workflow and equipment faults
- Proven experience and understanding of system diagrams
- Management of stock control
Desirable experience
- Experience working with SMPTE cable.
- Previous experience in a technical broadcasting role.
- Technical Report writing
- Jira issue management platform
- Experience of logging and managing incidents in an operational environment.
- Practical experience in using 2D AutoCAD software
