We are looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to join our Race Engineering and Infrastructure team. Reporting into our Head of Energy & Electrical Systems, this role will support the event energy transition and electrical projects across Formula 1.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning
    • Plan and schedule EET project delivery
    • Attend site visits
    • Plan venue and civil works, plant requirements
    • Gather customer requirements and define scope
    • Develop electrical overlay, layouts and cable routing
    • Work with power provider on system design (Energy generation, storage, distribution)
    • Identify and manage H&S and compliance needs
    • Plan on-site requirements: Logistics, fuel, plant
  • Project Development
    • Develop systems and processes for project delivery
    • Develop monitoring, data‑collection and reporting systems
    • Lead on project expansion and commercial engagement
    • Lead on value engineering and cost control
    • Produce SoWs/SLAs and manage logistics (fuel, freight, travel)
  • Project Delivery
    • Oversee on‑site installation and delivery. Act as main contact for customers, suppliers and venue management
    • Lead client witnessing and acceptance
    • Ensure electrical and H&S compliance, testing and verification
    • Track customer orders and variations
    • Produce order summaries and financial reports
    • Produce post‑event Energy Reports
  • Electrical Engineering & Design
    • Provide engineering and design support across projects
    • Produce indicative and detailed electrical designs
    • Advise on protection, equipment selection and circuit design
    • CAD support for drawings and layouts
  • Other
    • Assist with department race duties involving additional race travel
    • Integration and alignment with the wider department’s duties
    • Assist with Race Cover duties in Biggin Hill

What Are We Looking For?

Experience

  • Industrial & commercial electrical installation experience
  • Temporary power for events and broadcast experience
  • Project management experience
  • Client acceptance FAT/SAT experience
  • Experience with commercial and procurement processes, budget management and forecasting

Some desirable experience that you may bring to the role:

  • Data Analysis, SCADA, HMI experience
  • Project management systems and software

Qualifications

Not essential to be successful in the role but you may also have the following qualifications:

  • HNC, HND or Degree Electrical Engineering
  • Qualified Electrician (JIB Gold Card, NVQ 3, AM2)
  • Testing and Inspection 2391-52
  • Temporary Power BS7909
  • Project Management PMP or equivalent
  • C&G 2396 Design
  • IPAF, Fork, Telehandler license

Knowledge & Skills

Prior to the role it is essential that you demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in Electrical design & specification
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software
  • Proficiency in UPS, BESS and Generator systems
  • Proficiency in Automation systems and monitoring systems
  • Knowledge of relevant UK/EU electrical standards
  • Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data analysis, and reporting)
