About Us:
Formel D is the global service provider for the industry. We develop market-leading concepts, as well as individual and scalable solutions throughout the entire value chain of the production process, from the design phase, industrialization, production and after-sales. The company was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Cologne (Germany).
We currently have a team of several thousand people located in 45 nations, and more than 90 locations in 21 countries, working daily at the core of the industry. Our drive is passion, team spirit and professionalism in everything we do, and our success is based on the satisfaction of our customers, which makes us stand out as a premium supplier within the sector.
The purpose of the job is to play a critical role in the electrified transformation within a leading luxury OEM, launching an exciting lineup of BEV architectures. Working specifically within the launch environment, you will be responsible for mitigating supplier related quality issues during launch phases of new vehicles and model year changes. In this role, it is critical to work closely with supplier partners to ensure quality concerns are contained and resolved robustly in a tight timeframe. In this position, working at pace whilst maintaining a consistent problem solving methodology including level 0, 8D and DMAIC is critical.
Utilising agile working practices, you will work cross-functionally with our manufacturing and engineering teams, in addition to supplier partners to provide technical problem solving support and solutions to complex problems. This will involve working in a “scrum” environment, demanding an engineer who is confident to lead ambiguous and multi-root causal projects.
This role will demand some travel during prototype build phases based elsewhere in the UK in addition to occasional UK-based supplier visits. Otherwise, the default location of this role is within the OEM facility.
Responsibilities:
· Lead / support robust closure of all supplier quality related issues for all new model related programmes. The Launch Quality Engineer will work closely with their SPQ colleagues to ensure containment actions are in place within 24hrs and to achieve 8D problem solving resolution to D5 within 30 days, with full closure to D8 within 60days (in line with the company operating procedure).
· Work closely with our supply partners to create and deliver robust proactive plans to drive zero incremental audit score for new model vehicles.
· Assess & implement escalation for suppliers which have recorded significant / repeat quality issues during pre-build activities within plant.
· Act as an integral squad member within the scrum to lead or proactively support cross-functional problem solving focussing on the supplier influence.
· Develop productive relationships with internal stakeholder and suppliers representatives to drive robust problem resolution and ensure all escalated supplier manufacturing process related issues are resolved in a timely manner.
· Collaborate with key stakeholders to maximise supplier technical assistance influence and ensure alignment with purchasing processes and policy.
Requirements:
· Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering
· Strong knowledge of 8D specifically
· Excellent stakeholder management and relationship management skills and experience
· Ability to manage stakeholders effectively in areas of contention
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels of the organisation and with external suppliers/customers.
· Experienced problem solver and strong advocate of lean manufacturing
· Experience / awareness of product launch
