We're now looking for a driven and delivery-focused Project Manager to take end-to-end ownership of customer and internal projects across our professional services portfolio.
The Role
As a Project Manager at Formation Tech, you'll be the key person responsible for delivering technology projects that directly shape our customers' experience. This is a hands-on, client-facing role operating with a high level of autonomy, you'll manage everything from sales handover through to service desk transition, working closely with technical teams, leadership, and senior customer stakeholders along the way. You'll have real commercial responsibility, contributing to project P&L, WIP control, and billing readiness, while also playing an active part in improving our delivery processes and professional services proposition. Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery & Governance
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of customer and internal projects from sales handover through to service desk transition
- Define, control, and deliver projects against agreed scope, timelines, budget, and quality standards
- Coordinate internal teams, suppliers, and third parties to ensure timely and efficient delivery
- Establish and maintain effective project governance, including reporting, documentation, and status communication
- Plan and oversee all aspects of a project to meet its goals on time and within budget
- Ensure technical designs are reviewed, approved, and delivered on time in collaboration with the Head of Technology and technical teams
- Lead effective handover into Service Desk ensuring continuity and clarity
- Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead clear, confident communication with customer stakeholders at all levels, including regular project updates and risk communication
- Build strong, trusted relationships that support long-term customer retention and service expansion
- Manage discretionary customer delays and drive timely project closure
- Scope, Risk & Change Control
- Own risk, issue, and dependency management, ensuring early identification and escalation where required
- Lead change management by realigning customers to agreed scope or updating scope of work, balancing commercial impact across time and cost
- Manage scope and change through formal change control processes (CCNs / Scope of Work revisions)
- Balance commercial impact across time, cost, goodwill, and customer experience
- Operate within agreed commercial authority levels and escalate where decisions fall outside those limits
- Own time management across each project, ensuring accurate forecasting, preventing overruns, and communicating early with customers and Account Management where additional time or scope is required
- Commercial Responsibilities
- Ensure projects close promptly to enable accurate and timely billing and cash collection
- Own project financial performance, including P&L, fee earning reports, and WIP control in partnership with Finance
- Maintain billing readiness and support invoicing activities through accurate project reporting
- Partner with Sales and Account Management to identify upsell or expansion opportunities during delivery
- Support effective sales to project transitions to protect margin and delivery quality
- Operational Responsibilities
- Support contract lifecycle management by ensuring project-related contract terms and licensing details are accurately captured
- Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery processes, documentation, workflows, handovers, and SLAs
- Act as a key user and improvement contributor for delivery systems, including Autotask and IT Glue
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end IT / technology projects in fast-paced environments
- Strong track record managing full project lifecycle from initiation through build, test, and transition to service
- Hands-on experience managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, risks, and dependencies
- Understanding of project governance, financial management, and reporting
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences
- Analytical and proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership, solve problems, and keep delivery moving
- PRINCE2 (or equivalent) project management certification
- Experience delivering voice, security, or network infrastructure projects is a plus
