An excellent opportunity for an Interior Designer, with a minimum of 3+ years\' experience, to work on established concepts within the Design Team has come up due to continued growth.
The opportunity allows the successful candidate to predominately work within an office-based role, working on brand roll-out programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Retail Interior Designer to bring their energy and passion and play a key role in a busy team to create innovative ideas for retail environments, workspaces and commercial areas. You will work directly with clients and oversee the development of your ideas with the design team. We work collaboratively to create memorable brand experiences in retail, commercial and workspaces.
Responsibilities
- Work independently, or with colleagues and the Director, attend client and design team briefings and gather all necessary information to establish the brief.
- Prepare plan proposals demonstrating a thorough understanding of the client\'s requirements.
- Prepare design ideas and concepts.
- Manage the creative development of drawing sets, renders etc.
- Prepare statutory applications and ensure compliance with the applicable legislation.
- Oversee new store approvals processes with landlords and third parties.
- Manage local authority approvals e.g. building control and planning consents, etc.
- Work closely with the Design Director and client lead to interpret briefs and develop detailed elements from initial concept proposals.
- Work closely with other consultants to ensure the development of all associated design elements, cost control, co-ordination, flow of information, and programme.
- Assist in the production of, and direct the preparation of, all construction information including highly detailed plans.
- Manage and integrate the overlaying drawing layers supplied by external parties, e.g. HVAC, Lighting, life safety, etc.
- Obtain competitive tenders for contract works.
- Support with production of internal and external design approval packs.
- Specify and obtain quotations for FF&E and other non-contract elements, and ensure orders are placed as required.
- To visit and assist with the survey of retail environments, workspaces and commercial areas to include measurement surveying and appraisal to highlight issues or design change.
- Liaise with works on site and continue adjustment and updating of plans throughout planning and build phases.
- Resolve issues and changes as they occur, recognising the fast-paced nature of the sector.
- Manage handover processes, record keeping and Statutory sign off.
Qualifications
- [Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup.
- A sound knowledge of other programmes including Photoshop and Microsoft Office. Of interest but not essential may be possible experience with Indesign, Rhino and Vray.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to present visually appealing work in a clear and confident manner.
- Enjoy the challenge of lateral thinking and problem-solving skills with an ability to improve processes and ways of working.
- To work efficiently within a team on brand roll out programmes.
- Ability to analyse and problem-solve, adapting existing concepts into different non-standard sites.
- Attention to detail and consistency in drawing work, to produce high quality drawings.
- To work well as part of a team both supportively and independently, after working through a brief with the Design Team.
- To thrive in a fast-paced environment, to working to tight deadlines with a great attitude.
You will have experience in the sector, have excellent creative and technical skills, be a team player and be able to deal with projects from inception to completion, interface well with clients, and assist to supervise projects on site. Experience
- Minimum BA Hons (or equivalent) in Interior Design, Architecture, or similar.
- Held roles in the Retail and Commercial design sector having drawing experience within the construction industry, ideally working within a retail / commercial environment.
- Broad design experience from project inception to handover.
- Creative and technical experience including space planning and detailing.
- Good understanding of the applicable areas of the Building Regulations, Planning, and other technical standards.
- Confident and efficient interacting with clients, design team, contractors, and suppliers.
- UK driving license and access to a vehicle preferable.
