Job Summary

Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine, 10 sessions per week, Permanent.

Salary: £61,542 – £99,216 per annum

Closing Date: 28th November 2025

Responsibilities

  • Play an active role in the day‑to‑day management and administration of the Emergency Department.
  • Support and assist consultants with audit and teaching of A&E medical staff, nursing staff and students.
  • Participate in RCEM and local audits, quality improvement projects, clinical governance and the development of departmental policies.
  • Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call service, including night shifts, referral to appropriate in‑patient facilities and teamwork with ENPs, ACPs and GP in urgent care as required.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is completed for each patient, including required data input for departmental computer systems and generation of GP letters when needed.
  • Maintain and update knowledge and skills by attending appropriate courses, meetings, workshops and simulations; participate in appraisal processes to monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with Warwick Medical School and Warwick University for academic links, teaching appointments and potential faculty association.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
  • MBBS/MBChB or equivalent
  • ALS or equivalent

Desirable Qualifications

  • MRCEM/FRCEM Primary/ MRCP or equivalent
  • APLS/PILS
  • ATLS

Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum of four years post‑graduate experience, at least two of which must be in Emergency Medicine
  • Able to demonstrate competence in all aspects of Emergency Medicine

Desirable Experience

  • Formal postgraduate specialty training
  • Experience within the specialty in the UK

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to manage the requirements of the post
  • Able to lead less experienced members of the care team
  • Able to lead medical team

Other Desirable Qualities

  • Experience and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non‑medical staff
  • Audit and research, evidence of knowledge of research methodology and commitment to clinical innovation
